ISKCON – An Experience of an Architect along with Architecture students of East West School of Architecture (EWSA) during their site visit.
ISKCON a name connects to the Indian God Lord Krishna, who taught the lesson of life to Warrior Arjuna in middle of battle field through “Bhagwad Gita”, A holy book of Hindus.
ISKCON A place to worship Krishna and follow his life style. What can be a better place than ISKCON to start educating.
When we reach ISCKON, Rajaji Nagar, Bangalore, we were asked to sit inside the AV room for small presentation. I started thinking how this is going to be useful for the student? Are they going to enjoy the session? Etc. Soon after 5 min a gentleman entered, nicely dressed and balance between words, With perfect English pronunciation.
He started the presentation on The Akshya Patra Kitchen (Mid-Day Meal Scheme for underprivileged children), it was a fifteen-minute-long Presentation with a few slides and more of Videos, which actually left a mark in our thoughts.
Soon after Presentation We were taken to the First Akshya Patra Kitchen Started in Bangalore for 1500 Children Across Bangalore region, and Today they a serving millions of children all across the country with many Hi-tech automated kitchens.
The person who accompanied us through the kitchen did not leave single corner or device to explain in details. I was amazed with his patience and the control of language. The tour of the kitchen gave us the knowledge of food being cooked over there and how it is transported to the schools.
Soon after the Kitchen Tour on our request we were taken to the Main Shrine through the special entry where we could see the Lord Krishna from just three meters away, an experience cannot be expressed in words. Also, we took a small temple complex tour, it was almost Two-hour long. After Tour we went to Dinning hall where they serve free meals to all visitors and devotees. They call it “SATVIK BHOJAN” which means Pure, essential, natural, vital, clean, conscious, true, honest, wise". Taste of the food was amazing which helped to kill our hunger and re-energize our body and soul.
In conclusion it was an amazing experience for all of us and very informative, Also, it brings Krishna much closer to our life.
